UPDATE 8/8/2008: Videogasm is again doing the Big 'Ole Truck to Burning Man in 2008. We still have approximately 100 cu/ft available for rental. Everythimg you need to know is listed below. If you have any questions, please E-mail me, Early Poppycock.

THE TRUCK

Q: What's the deal with this truck?

A: We are renting a 24 foot panel truck. Making stops in Wayne,PA.(a suburb of Philadelphia), and Woodhaven, MI (a suburb of Detroit).

Q: How big is it?

A: The truck is 1400 cubic feet, but only 800 cubic feet is available for rental. Space is very tight, pack efficiently!

Q: When is the truck leaving and arriving in Reno?

A: The truck will leave Andy Wing's place (located in Wayne, PA) on the morning of Monday, 8/18 for a Saturday 8/23 arrival in Black Rock City. There will also be a one day stopover in Woodhaven, Michigan (Ed 's Place) Tuesday 8/19 to pick up the bulk of Camp Videogasm's Stuff. Anyone in the Detroit Metro Area interested in getting space on the truck, must make arrangements with Ed Lazar prior to 8/19. The Truck will leave from Michigan on the morning of Wednesday 8/20.

Q: How much will it cost?

A: Space will be rented at the rate of $8.00 per cubic foot. If you are reserving 100 cubic feet or more you will be charged at the discounted rate of $7.50 per cubic foot. (All quoted prices include transportation both to and from Burning Man). Be realistic in the amount of space you'll need. To determine cubic footage, imagine putting a box over your stuff. Then multiply that box's width, by it's length, by it's height. For example: a space 5 feet wide by 5 feet long by 4 feet tall = 100 cubic feet.

Note: We will also take weight into consideration. Expect to pay a bit more for overweight items. This would be determined on a case by case basis, but as a general guideline we would consider anything over 15 pounds per cubic foot to be an overweight item. Items weighing between 16 and 30 lbs. per cubic foot will be charged at the rate of $11.00 per cubic foot. Items weighing 31 or more lbs. per cubic foot will be charged at the rate of $14.00 per cubic foot.

Q: When is the money due?

A: By Friday, August 15th for advance payments. If there is still space left over, then you can pay by CASH ONLY up until Sunday 8/17 when we pack the truck. Note that there is no guarantee that the truck won't be filled by then, so pay in advance if you can. Before bringing stuff at the last minute, check with Ed Lazar or Andy Wing in case we are indeed full. We don't want you to waste a trip only to have the truck filled when you arrive.

Q: Is it too late to jump in on the truck?

A: Almost, there is still approximately 100 cu/ft available for rental . Remember: your space is not officially reserved until we receive your check! We will be updating this site to let you know how the truck is filling up.

Q: Who/where do I make payment to?

A: You can either use PayPal...

The account to make payment to is: epoppycock@comcast.net

...Or Send a check to:

Ed Lazar II

22100 Reinhardt Drive

Woodhaven, MI 48183

Important!  Make checks payable to Ed Lazar II and indicate on the check what is being paid for (i.e.: number of shares or cubic feet being reserved), and who it is being paid for (for those of you paying as couples or groups)  Also, include a note with your full name, mailing address, day and evening phone numbers and preferred e-mail address. When paying my PayPal please include all the proceeding information in the message area. Q: Will the truck be making pickup stops?

A: No, you are responsible for getting your stuff to either Andy's place in Wayne, PA or Ed's place in Woodhaven, MI.

Q: So when can I drop off my stuff?

A: Anytime after August 1st.  You will need to make arrangements with Andy Wing for a Philadelphia drop off, or Ed Lazar for a Detroit drop off.

Q: Who will load the truck?

A: We will need volunteers to do this on Sunday afternoon 8/17 at Andy's place. The truck is scheduled to leave Philadelphia early on the morning of the 18th.

Q: Do I need to be a camp member in order to be in on the truck?

A: No, although we would prefer that you were a member of Camp Videogasm, or Snowflake Village, beggar's can't be choosers. Note: the truck will not make "deliveries" once it's on the playa.  It pulls into camp and then stays put.

Q: OK, so where in Black Rock City can I get my stuff?

A: The truck will be parked @ Camp Videogasm, in Snowflake Village, location 7:00 & Esplanade.

Q: When is the truck leaving Black Rock City?

A: On the morning of Monday, September 1st.  You must have everything you wish to send back on the truck at Camp Videogasm by 1pm on Sunday, August 31st. We will need volunteers to help reload the truck on Sunday afternoon.

Q: When will the truck arrive back in Woodhaven? Wayne?

A: Sometime in the evening of Thursday, September 4th, we will be arriving in Woodhaven (Michigan), doing a unload of the appropriate stuff on Friday, September 5th, and then continuing on to Wayne,PA. Michiganders can pick up their stuff in Woodhaven starting on Friday. East Coasters in Philadelphia, starting on Saturday, September 6th.

Q: Where will the truck be unloaded?

A: Everything will be unloaded to it's point of origin either Ed's place in Michigan, or Andy's place in Philadelphia.

Q: How long do I have to pick up my stuff in Wayne? Woodhaven?

A: About a week.  Videogasm is not running a free storage facility.  Plan on getting your stuff ASAP or it will be thrown out or sold.

Note: There will be NO SPECIAL BIKE RATE this year, bikes will be charged at the usual $8.00 per cubic foot. All bicycles must be boxed or crated... NO EXCEPTIONS! If at all possible please crate your bike. A simple bike crate can be constructed out of a sheet of plywood and a couple of two by fours... total cost about $15. You can often get a used bike box for free at a bike shop or department store.  Whenever possible try to share a bicycle between two or three people.
